Our new studio lighting equipment is now in use during 2010. The initial results are very promising.

Women and men of all ages are invited to join us at our meetings on Monday evenings at Whitton Community Centre.

Younger people trying to understand how to use their digital SLRs and Photoshop and needing some friendly advice from others who may have a little more experience in photography are especially welcome.

Our studio evenings are a particularly good way to get to grips with learning how to use your camera. Plenty of help is always available from other photographers.

We hold regular monthly competitons with a few extra competitons for various trophies. Our competition judges are registered with the Surrey Photographic Association. Mounted prints displayed in an illuminated easel are judged first at 8.00 p.m. followed by judging of projected images (digital and slides) after the break at about 9.00 p.m.

We are told that the standard of our photographs is quite high - a good reason to join and learn from us, and then improve the club standard to new heights.

Look at our programme and see what's on the agenda at our meeting and come along free to Whitton Community Centre between 7.30 and 8.00 p.m. on a Monday evening. The door steward will show you where we meet and introduce you to us. Try our club for a few weeks before you decide if you would like to become a permanent member.

Drinks can be bought by members at club prices from the social club bar. It is a Whitton Community Assocation rule that visitors need to pay a £1 charge to go in the bar so it may be cheaper to join the Association. The membership year of WCA is from February-January and membership in the second half of the year is at half the full annual subscription.

Many of the club members continue to discuss their photography in the bar after the meetings. They get to know each other better and improve their photography.

Some of our members have set up a private website for local photographers who mainly belong to photographic clubs around Whitton, Twickenham and the local area. It is a forum group where members can publicise and agree to visit local photographic exhibitions, galleries and events, arrange days out to take photos with each other, type questions and answers, upload and add comments about each other's photos, describe Photoshop techniques and generally support each other, perhaps spending a few minutes each week online. Please speak to Nigel Mearing at Whitton Photographic Club or in the social club bar after 10 p.m. on Monday evenings initially and then apply to join today at cameraclub.ning.com. The private website is not connected with or part of Whitton Photographic Club.
